Details from Cairte :
I issued a formal notice to the dealer on the basis of article 1611 of the civil code with a request for damages and a penalty per day of delay.
The dealership manager told me "you can do whatever you want, I don't have the vehicle and you won't get it any faster"; except that 3 days later, he called me to tell me that, in agreement with the manufacturer, he would deliver to me within a month a better equipped vehicle, with payment of the registration document at his expense, compensation for the ecological bonus and even that he offered us champagne upon delivery of the car...
Small clarification, I was able to make this request because it was noted in the sales contract "that in the event of force majeure [...] the aforementioned delivery will be postponed by two months". He kept telling me force majeure, force majeure; well, that put an end to his excuses...
Don't hesitate to do the same if your delays are really excessive ;-)

Expected delivery period of 6 months
When Cairte ordered his Peugeot 308 SW on 31/03/2022, he was filled with excitement and anticipation 😉 The initially announced delivery date of 30/09/2022, a standard six months delivery period, seemed reasonable for such a sought-after model.
A delivery delayed by 8 months
For Cairte, the delivery of his Peugeot 308 SW was postponed by more than eight months. Such delays, though quite unusual, can be attributed to various factors beyond the manufacturer's direct control (supply chain issues with components, global logistical challenges...).
In fact, Cairte waited 14 months
