Seat Ibiza
Xcellence

1.0 TSI 110 DSG 7

Gris Magnétique
xcellence Lux, automatic, magnetic grey. Ordered January 2024 delivered May 2024. All standard other than a spare wheel. Ordered via Drive the Deal. Approx discount on the road of 10%. Plus got 2 years servicing for £199 and £0% PCP which is worth another £2092 at 4% comparing buying for cash.
Design and exterior/interior appearance
Seats could be more comfortable on a long journey and lumber support would be beneficial.
Quite a bit of road noise but it does have 18" wheels as standard. Also quite a bit of engine noise. Soundproofing under the bonnet is zero. I anticipate it is poor throughout. Not acceptable Seat.
Great space for a small car for 2 largish people. Also plenty of room in back for 2 more.
Boot space very good.
I love the external design.
Internal appearance OK. Bit plastically.
Visability is good.
Performance and Handling
Still running in but performance seems good for a 115PS engine. A little quicker than my last car which was a 1.6 Fiesta.
Handling is impressive being slightly worse than my previous Fiesta.
Ride is reasonable, particularly considering 18" wheels.
Automatic gearbox is fine and much better and smoother than my old Fiesta Powershift system. I have read that it is hesitant at times but I have not found that to be the case. Maybe that has been addressed in the 2024 115PS update.
Brakes are fine, disks front and rear.
So far average is 54 mpg. That is a mixture of light town driving and motorways at 70 ish.
Equipment and Technology
Lots of kit provided with the x Lux.
All controls (except within the infotainment) are easy to access and operate.
Infotainment system easy to navigate but I did need the owners manual to understand what is included. I have set it up how I want it now.
Auto stop/start is a pain and there is no way to permanantly disable it. A button next to the gear lever will readily turn it off for each journey. Always forget to do that though until the first stop.
Lane departure system has far too aggressive steering wheel intervention to the point that I consider it to be potentially dangerous, particularly to someone who does not have much strength in their arms. There is no way to permanantly turn it off which is a great disappointment.
Automatic wing mirror folding was not initially turned on. Easily sorted though once in the Infotainment system.
Great that it does not have an electronic handbreak.
Disappointed that the gear in use is not shown up on the digital cockpit. Not essential but I would like to have this information to understand how the car is performing.
No internal grab handles. Disappointing.
No rear passenger cabin light which is a disappointment but would not be used much by us.
Single boot platform level a bit disappointing.
In front distance selection when using automatic cruise control is very poor and limiting.
Storage space very good. Driver's underseat store could be larger.
Total mileage indication not provided in digital cockpit. Disappointing.
Radio and speakers OK but far from being outstanding.
I was dubious about keyless entry and start, with regard to security, before I got the car and would have chosen key operation had I had the choice. In practice however I consider it is adequately secure as the range of operation is limited and the keys deactivate when they are left in the stationary state. We also keep our keys in small tins when indoors.
No other complaints considering size and cost of car.
Owners Manual is lengthy but contains so much useless information for a seasoned driver. Some information is incorrect. Some what I consider to be important information is lacking such as technical data, spark plug types, etc.
Some information is misleading and not conclusive such as engine oil type.
Conclusion
Overall very pleased with car.
Will probably be keeping it for around 10 years / 100000 miles and from my experience so far I believe that will be enjoyable driving.
Main grievences are lack of soundproofing, potentially dangerous and unwanted lane assist seats could be more confortable.
Lots of kit. Most of it useful and functional (rear camera, parking detectors, ACC, automatic headlights and dip control and sat nav and road sign recognition.
Would I buy another one if the need occured - YES.
