Škoda Enyaq
Version

80

Energy Blue
June 2023 Order placed through a company car scheme which is contracted to Novuna. Version is 125kW Loft (Plus) with optional heat pump in the standard blue
January 2024: just had an update that delivery is now expected 3rd March (two weeks earlier than initially expected)
March 8th predicted then finally settled on the 14th. Due to the delay I was upgraded to the 2024 specification and so gained from an improved battery capacity, minor software issues in the previous version resolved and a few extra features. Arrived with 80% charge and just 5 miles on the clock. I have now driven just over 300 miles and achieved 3.5 miles/kwh with roughl;y equal time on motorway and A road. That is giving me a range of approximately 260miles at an air temperature of 10C and without changing my driving style from my previous Toyota Rav4. As a result my conclusion is that it was worth the wait.
Won't set the world alight but okay
Good stuff
- very airy feel due to the angle of the large windscreen, width and head room
- Plenty of storage in the centre console
- visually pleasing interior that is soft on the eye
- Well positioned display screen
- good size boot that is comfortably large for our two dalmations and accommodated three large bales of horse bedding (Bedmax Shavings). There are also two good sized side storage units and the bag hooks are robust and well placed
Not so good stuff
- the 'cup holders' are stupidly small and will not accommodate most refillable water bottles although the bottles do fit in the door pocket. Rather than cup holders they are designed for tall 500ml disposable plastic bottles.
- the auto headlight switch (and indicating light to show when the lights are on) is low on the drivers door pillar side of the dashboard not far from where you might expect a bonnet pull to be. It is far from line of sight which is a daft place to have it!
- the passenger and driver doors are fairly stiff and so the effort to close them would result in slamming most other car doors
Functional but not exciting
Good stuff
- Acceleration is well up to passing slower vehicles
- without changing my driving style from my Toyota Rav4 Hybrid (2020 model), I am achieving 3.5miles/kwh which gives me around 260 miles range on an even split between motorway and A road at an average air temperature of 10C . This is early days though as I've only covered around 300 miles so far.
- The drivers seat has a good range of adjustment and has three memory settings for drivers. The drivers last position is saved so long as the car is locked and unlocked using the key rather than using the hands free option.
- Very quiet. Not just due to the lack combustion but because soundproofing is good
Not so good stuff
- due to the stiffer suspension required to manage the battery weight, lumps and bumps in the road are far more noticeable than in my previous ICE. Not to the point of being unpleasant but I wouldn't say it is a smooth ride either.
- cornering does generate noticeable lean and while the grip level gives confidence, the car wallows a little at speed.
Very pleased
Good stuff
- The drivers seat has a good range of adjustment and has three memory settings for drivers. The drivers last position is saved so long as the car is locked and unlocked using the key rather than using the hands free option.
- the display screen is large, well position and the satnav display very clear. I have never been a fan of 3D settings but that view in the Enyaq is excellent and my preferred option
- the drivers display is fairly small and I have noted some negative comments. Personally I have no problem with that as I can clearly see all the information I want.
- The touch bar for volume is excellent in use and feel.
- I like the fact that physical buttons for regularly used functions (eg accessing air con settings) have been retained.
Not so good stuff
- the lever for the cruise control and speed limiter is positioned out of the line of site and too low on the steering wheel column and so doesn't easily fall to hand.
- locating some of the on screen functionality has to be learned as it is not a particularly intuitive system. I found myself googling for some items as even the manual wasn't overly helpful!
- four charges in and I still
A new convert to EV ownership
Like many I guess, I was nervous about choosing an EV due to range anxiety and losing the convenience and speed of filling up with petrol, especially as my typical commute is a 180 mile round trip. I have however found that there is a big offset on that due to the convenience of knowing every morning that I will step into a car that has a full 'tank' with more than enough capacity for that commute. Also, given the range I am achieving, by the time I need a recharge on longer trips I will be ready to take a break anyway.
While there are some minor annoyances about the design as mentioned above, overall my first impressions are very positive. I am enjoying the car, it easily meets my needs and those of the family and it looks good on my drive. I would therefore recommend this model.
📅 Icyberjunkie's Order History
29/01/2024 :
Just had an update that delivery is now expected 3rd March (two weeks earlier than initially expected)
14/03/2024 :
My car has arrived with 80% charge and just 5 miles on the clock. Easy to set up and drive.
18/03/2024 :
I have now driven just over 300 miles and achieved 3.5 miles/kwh with roughly equal time on motorway and A road. That is giving me a range of approximately 260miles at an air temperature of 10C and without changing my driving style from my previous Toyota Rav4. As a result my conclusion is that it was worth the wait. I'm really liking this car and I'd say the only disadvantage from my previous vehicle is the firmer suspension needed (as with all EV's) which means it is not as smooth over lumps and bumps in the road.

A delivery perfectly on time !
This timeframe could raise questions among future buyers about Škoda's delivery schedule management, especially for a model as popular as the Enyaq. Fortunately, Icyberjunkie's experience can provide reassurance on this point. Škoda handled it well 👍
