Details from Ally13 :
With comfort pack plus. Leasing for 4 years.
The impression of entering a new century... A real toy, very different from the thermal cars of before! It will take me a while to get used to it (I'm not talking about the automatic transmission, I drive a truck with an automatic transmission every day), but for everything else (keyless entry, knowing when it's off, driving aids, etc...).
But what a gem, handling, power, silence, comfort).
Ps: the 116hp is more than satisfactory, my last 207cc showed 120 and that was a calf compared to it.
A nice surprise, which confirms my initial test.
Black, because the back seems prettier to me ;)
What surprised me at first was that it looked small from the outside. But the closer I got to it in the dealership (I had come to see the Yaris Cross), the more I realized that it was an optical effect. It offers completely comfortable space on board, despite a city car design. Superb front headlights (with very subtle rainbow reflections). It is true that the sound of the doors in no way resembles a Peugeot or a Volkswagen, but it has so many other advantages that it is a detail.
First 4300 km in 2 months
Performance: I'm amazed. Very surprised by the acceleration, I didn't expect it. The noise of the combustion engine, once underway, has nothing to do with the noise of the Cross that I tested. VERY pleasant to drive on small mountain roads, good handling (those for whom handling is important, forget the Cross). Impeccable braking. The sport mode doesn't seem to be fancy, I actually find it more responsive. Consumption? 2 times less than my 207cc, I oscillate between 3.9L and 4.1L. I smile every time I go to the pump, and I no longer hesitate to hit the road... For driving, there are certainly too many aids for my taste, yet I drive PL and SPL every day, ultra-equipped with aids... Some can be deactivated, others to be deactivated at each ignition (reminder of speed limits... I prefer to deactivate this one, because each time you exceed the authorized speed by 1 km/h, it beeps, and it annoys me). Pay attention to the "line crossing" aid: you must not delay in putting on the indicator, otherwise the car will prevent you from swerving, and it is borderline dangerous when you discover the car at first. Shock absorbers neither too hard nor too soft. I made a round trip from Finistère to Hérault (1037 km one way), on long journeys, RAS, this city car is perfectly comfortable, for me and the passengers. It’s even with pleasure that I will be hitting the road again in a month.
A jewel of technology
First, the Yaris 2024 has a much larger screen, and no need for a cable for Android auto in particular. The car automatically connects to the cellphone once paired, it's very convenient. I'm 100% Android and Google, and the car works well for me. I immediately have Google maps and Youtube music within reach. It took me a while to know when the car was really on or off, it made no noise, even when it was started (for newbies, it's a great moment of stress!). The doors can be unlocked by placing a finger on a location on the doors when you have the key on you, it's great (now I expect my truck or other vehicles to do the same :)). It can beep when you lock it because you left stuff on the seats. Annoying at first, rather practical in the end. I also love being able to check the My Toyota app when I'm in doubt whether I've forgotten to close the windows or doors. No need to go back to the car anymore, I can lock it remotely! Or even unlock it, if someone needs to retrieve something from it. Luxury... Also, one might think that the pedestrian/cyclist and obstacle warnings are exaggerated, but in practice, given that it is ultra silent, other users do not hear it... You have to be doubly vigilant... so yes, it is useful.
The last one I considered... And I congratulate myself for having chosen it every day!
Having the choice between several vehicles through my company, I was looking for something larger than my 207cc, and more roadworthy. I aimed for the Yaris Cross. But curiosity led me to approach the simple Yaris, to see... 1st reaction, the closer I got to it, the bigger it seemed to me. Spacious. I pushed the vice and settled there. Big surprise. Professional tests are correct, the Yaris Cross doesn't really have more space inside, apart from the height of the ceiling and the trunk. In the back, I will be jealous of my passengers, we are very comfortable there. So if this is not essential for you, the Yaris has other advantages that the Cross does not have. I tried both, twice. Without question, the driving comfort was incomparable: handling, power and silence, everything is better in the Yaris. Basically, if you REALLY need a bigger trunk, you choose the Cross. If you like the pleasure of driving, you stay with the Yaris. The only thing that my daughter preferred in the Cross was being higher up and having the feeling of more space above her head (I would like to thank the Narbonne dealership which allowed me to test drive both, knowing that I told them that I was renting it through my company. I will obviously entrust them with the maintenance and necessary repairs).
I drive 100,000 km per year in a heavy goods vehicle, and I admit that I could do without adding more outside of work... But for the past 3 months, when I get into my car, it's a moment of pleasure... The silence, the keyless opening, the screen which automatically connects to my phone... consuming so little when I use it... What can I say... I just regret having opted for a 15,000km annual contract!!!!
