Expected Feb 2026 was from dealer estimate, nothing announced or visible from Renault
Still no date available in my Renault, just says "in progress"
It sounds like the Renault/import centre systems didn't handle the switch from R5 to R5+ models well. There was difficulty assigning my R5 Iconic to a system that only allowed the R5+ models :D
I'm going to see if the dealer will confirm my suspicions when I pick my car up, but I think I know why the UK import centre didn't release my car.
My original order was for an Iconic 5, just before Renault switched to the Iconic 5+. In the UK the Iconic 5+ and Roland Garros+ only come with the Harman Kardon sound upgrade as standard, had some pricing changes and due to the new battery plant was awarded the full UK Government £3750 EV grant instead of the £1500 grant of the original versions.
Checking the VIN of the car Renault built and shipped for me, it was a RHD Iconic 5+ with the Arkamys system. Not a version that can be bought in the UK. Unlike the French (all European?) models where the Arkamys system is still standard and HK audio is an optional upgrade. Evolution, Techno, Iconic, RG determine the spec including the sound system and wheels in the UK. We don't even get wheel options and only the Evo+/Techno+ only come with Arkamys with no option to upgrade. UK Technos are also only available with black roof.
Rather than having to cancel the original order and reorder as an Iconic 5+ at a different price without the 0% APR offer, it looks like Renault built me a RHD UK version of the European base spec Iconic 5+ in the colour I wanted. Which would be quite a unique UK car as it cannot be ordered here in the spec they built and shipped.
It seems to me, this caused the issues at the UK import centre because it doesn't exist as a UK car so can't match my order as the Iconic 5 and Iconic 5+ have different model codes as well as different prices and government rebates. :D

Initial delivery period of 6 months

A delivery perfectly on time !
This timeframe could raise questions among future buyers about Renault's delivery schedule management, especially for a model as popular as the Renault 5. Fortunately, Nelbert's experience can provide reassurance on this point. Renault handled it well 👍
In fact, Nelbert waited 6 months
